Tell Us Some Truths about Love. Dramatic scenes for a man, a woman and various extras, 2026 (forthcoming)
Synopsis
These thirteen short texts are drawn from the author’s dramatic writings over the period 2015 to 2025. They are balanced by gender, age (young to old) and variety. Four are for a man (or various men): ‘Wedding Day’, ‘An Encounter’, ‘Evensong’ and ‘Pantheon’; four for a woman (or various women): ‘Miss Isabella Leaman’, ‘Step-sisters’, ‘Seeking God, Finding God’ and ‘Pilgrim Mother’; and four for a man and a woman jointly (or for various men and women): ‘Dangling Participle’, ‘Had We but World Enough, and Time’, ‘Inside an Irish Pub’ and ‘Nenia’. The anthology closes with a one-act black comedy for a young woman and her man, ‘Glo’ttal’ Stop: this pushes their relationship to the brink. As a whole, the texts display a range of attitudes to contemporary life: sometimes they are witty, sometimes serious. They can be performed together or separately.
